Theme: Dependencies: Local and Long-distance
As linguists we are all aware of the plight of many endangered languages, peoples, societies and species, linguistically capable and otherwise. Their survival depends on us, and in various ways, our survival depends on theirs. Through concern for them and our environment, our aim is to bring you a low-cost, zero waste, sustainable conference.
Registration is free, but ALL participants must be paid up members of the Linguistic Society of NZ. Annual membership costs less than $50 for individuals and brings a number of benefits.
Join or pay your dues here.
To make a free sustainable conference possible, we will not provide refreshments, but encourage you to make use of the numerous cafes and food outlets on campus. You’ll find a range of well-priced options not far from the conference rooms.
Books of Abstracts and copies of the programme will not be distributed, but abstracts and the conference programme will be made available as early as possible through this web-site.
We encourage you to download these beforehand, or bring a thumb-drive onto which we can copy them. A limited number of printed copies will also be available for perusal outside the rooms.
We will provide a small note pad, a conference bag, and name-tag if needed, and will collect all unwanted items again at the end of the conference. Please look for the boxes in which to deposit these. Alternatively, we encourage you to bring your own bag, name-tag and keep-cup.
